Progress Update: Huddersfield Junction Improvement Works

We are pleased to report significant progress on the improvement scheme at one of the busiest junctions in Huddersfield. Recent activity includes:

Works completed in September

Phase 1 & Phase 2

Completed all kerbing works.
Constructed traffic island on Lockwood Road.
Opened the link road 15.09.2025, including new road markings.
Configured the new traffic lights so the link road junction is fully operational.
Completed all service diversions works.
New pedestrian routes now put in place.

Phase 3

Completed works to the gate in the school grounds

Phase 4 / 5A

Commenced site clearance – breaking out existing tarmac, kerbs and channels.
Started installing gullies and ducting including duct chambers.
City Fiber diversion works have been completed.

Future works for October:

Phases 4 / 5A

Continue with site clearance works.
Continue installing ducting, drainage and kerbs/edgings to footways.
Install remaining illuminated signs and standard signs.
Install new street light columns and cabling.
Footway preparation inc. sub-base and compaction.
Commence paving works to footways.
